Tips on How to Prevent Skin from Ageing

8:00 am by Seeking Joyful Simplicity Leave a Comment

Ageing is a natural process – just like the rest of your body, your skin suffers natural wear-and-tear as time passes and, regardless of what cosmetic commercials claim, there’s no magical cure to completely stop ageing. Ever since the dawn of civilization, people have been looking for the magic elixir or fountain of youth, but not even modern science could solve that riddle. There are, however, several things you can change in your everyday life to help your skin stay radiant for as long as possible.

It’s in the water

You might’ve noticed that whenever you search for a solution for a skin concern, the answer is always the same – drink more water. Many women take hydration for granted since you can’t see immediate results after one day of drinking three litres of water, but this is essential in the long run. If the cells in your skin don’t get sufficient water, that can result in flaky and tight skin, not to mention the fact that dryness of the skin might bring emphasis to wrinkles. Experts suggest taking around 11 cups of liquid a day but don’t forget that this isn’t just water – all of the fluids you take during the day count towards your daily fluid intake.

It’s always sunny everywhere

Take a look at areas of your body that rarely get exposed to direct sunlight – are they wrinkled? They’re probably not or at least not as much as your face or arms. This means that sun exposure contributes to wrinkles and ageing process, but that doesn’t mean you should stay inside forever in order to obtain eternal youth. That means that UV protection of your skin is essential and not only in the summer. The sun is always there, affecting your skin, so make sure you wear sunscreen every day. Apply it to your face and other exposed areas of the skin and feel free to enjoy sunny and not so sunny days.

Only the best for your skin

Ageing is a natural process – just like the rest of your body, your skin suffers natural wear-and-tear as time passes and, regardless of what cosmetic commercials claim, there’s no magical cure to completely stop ageing. Your skin is like a sponge – it absorbs whatever you put on it, so you might want to reconsider your beauty product choices. Switching to organic skincare might be the best decision you could make for your skin since that’s the easiest way to be sure it’s getting the best care there is. The thing with organic skincare is that it’s based on healthy and fresh ingredients with no harmful and hard-to-pronounce chemicals. Plant-based cosmetics are also more effective since they’re like food for your skin. Organic products are packed with nourishing and regenerative ingredients that not only protect but also rejuvenate your skin and delay signs of ageing.

Clean diet is essential

You know what they say – you are what you eat and the truth is that there are certain nutrients you should include in your diet on a daily basis if you want to help your skin stay fresh. For starters, opt for food that is full of antioxidants to protect your skin cells from free radicals damage. Think teas, such as green tea, white tea, black tea, oolong tea, etc. and green leafy vegetables, such as kale, beet greens, and spinach. Also, berries and various herbs, like turmeric and garlic, are a great source of antioxidants. You’ll also need omega-3 fatty acids to slow down the ageing process, so make sure you incorporate wild-caught fish in your diet.

It’s true that there’s no magical cure for eternal youth, but that’s no reason to give up. Take good care of your skin, drink plenty of water, and clear up your diet – and your skin will stay radiant and healthy-looking for years.
